The reward after the climb

This little village situated on a mound just above Cape St. Alessio is the reward after the climb. The more daring take the long, steep trail by bicycle, and all are enraptured by the spectacular views of the Ionian Sea. At a glance, the gaze embraces Messina, Taormina, the Reggio Calabria coast, and Mount Etna. The most outstanding monuments are the mother church, dedicated to the Santissima Annunziata, the Augustinian convent, the church of the Holy Trinity, and the 14th-century Norman castle, of which only ruins remain.
